Since the administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu came into office, he has restarted it over time that his administration will have zero tolerance for people who disobey the traffic law in the state. The Lagos State Government yesterday in his various social media handles released the updated list of traffic offences and their fines, an indication which shows Lagos means business!
AutoReportNG was in CMS today and we passed through the popular Tinubu Square close to the GTBank branch, we noticed some cars parked along the road have their plate numbers removed with a sticker attached to the windscreen that the owner should appear at the task force office at Oshodi. The Lagos State Mobile Court is known to be responsible for cases where motorists violate the traffic rule among others.
For the avoidance of doubt, according to the state law, parking on the kerb or walkways or outside the premises where the driver has come to transact business in a manner that either obstruct traffic or constitutes illegal use of public space is a violation of the law and could attract a fine of Twenty thousand Naira (N20, 000) or a community service after a documentary evidence has been presented to the offender.
It will be recalled that last week, 2 drivers who drove through the one-way in Ikeja were made to forfeit their vehicles to the state government. It’s another week, we can only appeal to drivers to drive responsibly and shun parking at the sideways.
