Innoson Replies Critics, Says “Rome Was Not Built In A Day” – Photos

This week has been a tough one for Innoson motors especially since the images of the SUV it presented to the BBNaija winner, Mercy Eke surfaced. Many people have criticised the design and the price of the car, some even went as far as questioning the authenticity and safety measures of the car.

After a public furore and comments on social media, the company has come out to state its side of the story, in a series of tweets by Innoson Motors, it says, we believe it will one day make cars that will rival models from well-established companies like Volkswagen and Mercedes:

• Any careful observer that has been monitoring Innoson Vehicles from the very inception will observe that there has been a tremendous improvement.

• This is because IVM is using the concept of regionalization in the production of its vehicles by making sure that it considers the local taste and consumer preferences of the African region during production.

• We ensure we get feedback from the users of IVM in order to know their views on their IVM experience and with this feedbacks we seek better ways to improve on the tastes and preferences of our customers to suit the environment.

• For example, based on various feedbacks we got from our customers and users of our big vehicles we have improved on the clutch and brake systems, the engine capacity and the body structure of the bus.

• IVM also improved on the interior décor and comfort by installing luxury seats, a robust air-conditioning system and an onboard entertainment system. IVM also improved on the suspension system of its vehicle, transmission system and enhanced shock absorber.

• A lot of people on the social media have mixed feelings about the brand Innoson, some of the complains ranges that the company is poor in PR and marketing, some are saying there are no adequate showrooms to showcase to clients on how to order for a test run.

It will be recalled that Lagos based OAP, Daddy Freeze has come out to question the price of IVM40 which was given to BBNaija winner, Mercy, according to Daddy Freeze, “How a locally made SUV be priced that high? I would say 7 million or 10 million, at the most 15 million but not N25M”

It will be recalled that in August, the Federal Road Safety Commission purchased 77 vehicles for its operation from Innoson, same goes to Kogi and Ebonyi States respectively.

 According to Wikipedia, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Co. Ltd., shortened as IVM, is a Nigerian automobile and bus manufacturing company. It was founded by Innocent Chukwuma and runs a plant in Nnewi in the state of Anambra. 70% of the car parts are produced locally, while the rest is sourced from Japan, China, and Germany.
