For those who are used to Kano and ply the Aminu Kano International Airport, you may be in for a new treatment of a lifetime as the new terminal of Mallam Aminu International Airport is due for commissioning any moment from now.
According to information reaching our newsdesk, the Kano International Airport terminal has been upgraded to meet with the world standard, this means that all activities will now be moved to this new terminal later in the year.
The federal government of Nigeria embarked on reconstructing 5 terminals, 3 have been commissioned and in use while two are to be commissioned soon. The airports are Nnamdi Azikwe Airport at Abuja, Port Harcourt International Airport, Rivers, Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, Muritala Muhammed Airport, Lagos. The Lagos airport is expected to be commissioned in 2020.
Construction started on a new domestic terminal and was commissioned on 23 May 2011. In 2009, the airport handled 323,482 passengers. The bulk of international flights cater to the large Lebanese community in Kano and Muslim pilgrimages to Mecca.
