3 Trucks Of ORide Bikes Seized By Police In Ikeja On Monday

This is certainly not the best of time for hailing operators and business owners in Lagos as the government has left them to their fate. According to an eye witness account today, Reports have it that a sizeable number of motorcycles (up to 3 trucks were packed full with bikes) belonging to OPay’s bike-hailing arm, ORide, were today impounded in the Ikeja area of Lagos by officials of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) for reasons that are yet unclear.

This means the police went to rampage and went on to seize bikes belonging to ORide, the question is, who authorized this seizure, what’s their offence among others.

This is coming barely a week after the officials of Lagos State Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) mandated the bike hailing operators to be paying N500 naira per bike daily.

Nigerians have however reacted to this development while calling on the government to call the law enforcement agencies to order, read the tweets below…
