The Director, Federal Highways, South West, Mr Funsho Adebiyi on Friday, December 6, 2019, reaffirmed an earlier directive that there will be a 72-hour closure of the Mile 2 to Tin Can Road portion of Oshodi- Apapa Expressway, Lagos, beginning from 12am Saturday, to allow for palliative work.
Mr Funsho stated this at the inspection site of the ongoing palliative project on the Tin Can Road, Apapa, noting that the 72 hours closure will begin from 12 am on Saturday, December 7 to 12 pm on Monday, December 9, 2019. The closure may, however, affect just the truckers.
“The palliative work has started already and the truck drivers have agreed to move their trucks away, to enable us carry out this palliative work because if we don’t move the trucks away, we can’t work.
“We have gone a step further by using Rapid Hardened Cement to fasten the hardening process and minimize how long it takes to do the job’ – Funso further said.
He commended the Presidential Taskforce for their presence which truly ensures lane discipline, noting the largely unruly behaviours of è “our tanker drivers are not disciplined, and they are also lawless, but we have gotten to their chairman to talk to them and a team has agreed to be arresting unrulling drivers”.
“What we are doing here will stand the test of time”, he said, while also, giving a positive assurance on the final outcome.
“You will like what you see after the completion of this project, as there is no gain without pain!”.
