Nigeria Customs Seizes Car That Hides Gallons Of Fuel In Two Caskets – PHOTOS

While the nation has shut its borders against smuggling particularly the land borders, the smugglers are going creative on how to beat security check and to continue with their illicit business.  According to reports, the Nigeria Customs Service on Wednesday intercepted 13 Jerry cans of 25 litres and six Jerry cans of 10 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) concealed in two caskets. In a statement released by NCS spokesman, he said,

In continuation of the fight against smuggling, A Joint Special Taskforce comprising of Officers and Men, of Ogun I Command, Federal Operation Unit Zone “A” and CGC’s Strike Force intercepted 13 Jerry cans of 25 litres and six Jerry cans of 10 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) concealed clandestinely in two caskets. The Smuggler wanted to smuggle the items across the border to a neighbouring country in a Mazda 626 with Lagos registration number LSD 617 CW.

No hiding place for smugglers. Its safer to engage in legitimate trade to avoid loss of money and even a possible jail term, the statement reads.

It will be recalled that on Monday, President Buhari had said domestic fuel consumption in the country had dropped by 30 per cent since his administration took the decision to shut land borders.
