The minister of aviation, Sen Hadi Sirika on Wednesday 2nd Jan 2020 inspected the ongoing construction at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu to access and see the level of work being done by the contractors.
The minister had in his entourage, the Permanent Secretary, Engr Hassan Musa, the Chairman, House Committee on Aviation, Nnaji Nnolim, the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Her Excellency Lolo Cecelia Ezeilo, MD- FAAN, Capt Rabiu Yadudu, the Airport Manager and Management Team of Enugu airport, where they inspect the runway repairs and progress of work on the new terminal.
It will be recalled that the federal government shut down the Enugu Airport in September 2019, according to the minister, he said the airport was closed down because of the state of the runway and other safety concerns.
He said that there are some limitations in the Enugu airport which had been brought to the attention of the Governor of the state.
With the rehabilitation of the runway, the airport is set to be open soon as the construction is at the advanced state.
