Nigeria’s construction company, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC has released its first report on the construction of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The construction which has been going on for years seems to be reaching its logical end. According to the report by Julius Berger, the rehabilitation, reconstruction, and expansion of the Lagos – Ibadan Dual Carriageway has reached 45% of completion according to a report released on the 12th of January by Julius Berger has shown.
The work which includes the rehabilitation and expansion of approximately 43 kilometers of the dual carriageway, also includes the construction of a new drainage system, upgrade of 4 existing underpasses, construction of 3 new flyovers and the construction of 10 pedestrian bridges.
It will be recalled that the contract was first awarded in 2013 but nothing tangible was done on the road, it was in 2018 that the Federal Government re-allocated funds for the completion of the road.
According to Julius Berger, over 640 persons are employed as manpower on this road.
