According to reports, the Head of Traffic Control, Lagos State Command, CSP Oriyomi Titilayo Oluwasanmi, said the accident occurred around 2 a.m.
“The accident occurred around 2 a.m. We immediately cordoned off the road so that motorists will not pass there. There is no road for them to even pass because it crosses the road.
“As you can see they are doing trans-loading already. Another tanker was brought from their office so that they can trans-load and after trans-loading they will remove the tape so that motorists can have access to the road. That’s why you see traffic personnel controlling the traffic,” Oriyomi said.

According to an official of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the distance of the area cordoned off traffic to the accident was 300 metres. The reason was to prevent further damage.
On ground at the scene of the accidents were police officers from Onipanu Division, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Fire Service and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
The accident led to agony for motorists as who spent endless hours in traffic that extended all the way to Apongbon on Lagos Island.
