The chief executive officer and chairman of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Chris Olakpe, is dead.
According to a report by The PUNCH, Olakpe died at an undisclosed hospital in the on Sunday.
Isaac Adetimiro, the director of research and statistics for LASTMA, who reportedly, confirmed the incident said nobody knew the Olakpe was ill and he did not show any sign of sickness.
“We heard about it this morning. He did not show any sign of any sickness. We are really shocked,” he was quoted to have said.
The deceased was a graduate of sociology and anthropology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.
He joined the Nigerian police force as a cadet assistant superintendent in 1980 and rose through ranks to become the assistant inspector-general of police.
Akinwunmi Ambode, the former governor of Lagos, appointed him CEO of LASTMA in 2015.
