It was a black Sunday on the popular Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as many persons were trapped when a tanker exploded at the Kara axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Sunday morning.

At least two persons have lost their lives and many injured in a fire resulting from an explosion involving four vehicles at the Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday.

It was learnt that the accident involved two petrol tankers, a gas truck, and a cement transport truck.

While giving an update on the incident, Lagos State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Olusegun Ogungbemide, said rescue operations have so far found two dead bodies.

On social media, some residents of Magodo, Berger, and Ojodu narrated how they could see billow of smoke from afar.

Firefighters have been battling to put out the inferno. At 2:01am, the Federal Fire Service pleaded that there should be no vehicular movement around the area.

“Kara Bridge Fire, men of the Federal Fire Service are already at the scene. Please vehicular movements should be halted around the area,” the tweet read.
