10 Things To Note About The Postion Of IGP On FSARS

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has released 10 basic facts from the IGP’s pronouncement on FSARS. The pronouncement which was released over the weekend has placed a ban on tactical squads including Special Tactical Squads (STS), Intelligence Response Team (IRT). It extends to the Anti-Cultism Squads and other tactical squads operating at the Federal, zonal, and command levels.

Also, the ban would stop them from carrying out routine patrol and other conventional low-risks duties. The duties include stop and search duties, checkpoints, mountings of roadblocks, traffic checks etc. The ban takes off with immediate effect.

It will be recalled that the youths took to social media to call for the total eradication of SARS with a trending hashtag such as #EndSARS #EndSARSBrutality among others in order to totally eradicate the unit as they seem to have lost focus and pick on innocent youths who go about their duties.
