The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai on Monday presented keys of brand new Innoson Motor Hilux Vans to 16 recently promoted Army Warrant Officers who are drawn from the Defence headquarters, Army headquarters, Division and Corps headquarters.
Speaking during the presentation of the vehicles, the COAS who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Army, Lt. Gen Lamidi Adeosun noted that the vehicles are meant to provide enablement for the Army Warrant Officers to do their work.
While stating that the presentation of the vehicles was in compliance with the harmonized terms and conditions of service of the armed forces, Lt. Gen Adeosun said the Chief of Army Staff (Lt. Gen TY Buratai) must be specially appreciated for approving the presentation despite the Army being at war and needing more hardware and logistics for troops.
“If he (COAS) didn’t provide these vehicles, he would have had valid reasons. We are at War. We need more equipment, more logistics requirements yet he seemed it important to abide by the provision of these vehicles”
The COPP advised the beneficiaries to use the vehicles for the progress of the service noting that though after service, the vehicle becomes automatically their property, they should use it for the family rather than selling the brand new vehicles.
The 16 beneficiaries are Army Warrant Officer Kabiru Isyaku, AWO Chamberlain Unung, AWO Grace Pethon, AWO Jonah Tamban, AWO Raphel Jegede, AWO Yusuf Tajudeen, AWO Farayola Olatunji, and AWO Adamu Donapu.
Others are AWO Babangida Garba, AWO Abubakar Mohammed, AWO Suleiman Ahmed, AWO Abbagana Dauda, AWO Daniel Ogidi, AWO Aminu Isiaka, AWO Titus Onwumelu and AWO Ibrahim Zakariah.
