The fire at OVH Energy (Oando) Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) storage facility at the Terminal 1, Bonny Way, Marine Beach, Apapa, was finally put out.
The inferno from the 7.6Million litres PMS tank which started on Thursday, 5th November 2020 at about 12:20hrs was successfully put out at 09:00hrs today, Saturday 7th, November 2020, while escalation to other tank farm was successfully averted by the combined efforts of the Lagos LASEMA unit, Lagos State Fire Service, Federal Fire Service and other Private Fire Units.
The Acting Head, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs Margaret Adeseye, who disclosed this maintained that no life was lost nor injury recorded in the fire outbreak. Although the main cause of the fire incident is yet to be unravelled, the Acting Director of the State Fire Service, however, stated that investigation is already ongoing in line with international best practices to establish the source of the fire incident in order to draw lessons from it for the future.
She stated that the facility is of reputable standard and it’s located in an industrial layout reserved for Oil and Gas industry.
