The Agege Pen Cinema Flyover has been in the news for quite a while, this is due to the flyover which is undergoing massive attention as the bridge is scheduled for commissioning the next year 2021.
The bridge which was awarded by the Lagos State Government to HITECH Construction Company by the Ambode administration which Babajide Sanwo-Olu promised to complete has begun the final casting of the bridge before putting finishing touches on it.
Process Of the Bridge Casting
Concrete cubes are placed on the deck at a certain offset from the desired casting. These cubes have a piece of iron in them to which an aluminium rod is clamped. The rod has a small hole. The surveyor sets the alignment and the level of this hole through which the sensor cable comes. The machine’s sensor will make sure that the machine follows the right alignment and level. When ready, concrete is poured on a conveyor belt (part of sp25) that transports it to the mould of the barrier (The mould can be of any shape including curbs, new jersey barriers, other shapes of barriers..). The mould has vibrators in its first part while the other part is just to give the desired shape (no vibrators). When the machine drives, it should be followed by skilled masons to make sure that any imperfection or any mistake is fixed while the concrete is still wet. The concrete mix is a dry mix and its composition will not be discussed in this post.
