The Federal Government has announced that it will fully launch the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) e-ticketing platform next week.

This is as it has also said it has commenced test bookings on the e-ticketing platform on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line as a prelude to the eventual launch.

This disclosure was made by the Minister for Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, through a tweet post on his official Twitter handle on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.

According to the minister of transportation, The e-ticket which will be sold at various designated places and platforms is expected to enable passengers to access these tickets easily with minimal hurdles, as well as guarantee orderliness in the purchasing of the tickets and address some major security challenges.

’Yes, we have commenced test bookings on the NRC E-ticketing platform, starting with the Abuja-Kaduna rail line. Next week, we’ll launch fully. Check it out and make bookings at nrc.tps.ng.’

The federal government is introducing the e-ticket as a result of massive irregularities and favouritism by the staffs of the corporation, it will be recalled that in 2019 passengers took to the social media to lament the hurdles and pains they go through before they can purchase the Abuja-Kaduna railway. With the introduction of the e-ticket which can be booked online and from a mobile app, it is expected that there will be accountability and less stress in the purchase of tickets across all terminals.
