The Lagos Taskforce in its bid to get rid of public menace and enhance free movement for cars has again embarked on arresting okada riders who ply the Yaba, Oyingbo, Surulere axis in the early hours of today.

It will be recalled that Okada and Keke Napep were banned by the Lagos State Government in 2020. The ban which restricts the operation and movement of both motorbikes and tricycles came in effect in January 2020 but it’s surprising that many of these riders have defied the law and are back and seen in virtually all areas in Lagos.

Last week, the Lagos police and Okada riders in Lekki had a face-off where the okada riders were reportedly said to have stoned and attack the police officers who want to impound their motorbikes, this forced the Lagos Commissioner of Police to issue a clampdown on all Okada riders at the banned areas as proscribed by the state government.

Below are photos from the various locations by the Lagos task force.
