LAWMA Seals Of Chinese Company In Ikorodu For Indiscriminate Waste Disposal

The monitoring and enforcement unit of LAWMA, today, sealed up a company, SINOMA, situated along ITOIKIN in IKORODU, for indiscriminately dumping of Solid waste generated in their facility into the public environment.

When challenged by LAWMA officials on a routine duty, who demanded that the company desist form the act, the officials were physically harassed and embarrassed for according to the company, ‘daring’ to challenge them.
The Authority promptly swung into action and sealed up the facility.

The Authority wants to use this medium to send a strong warning to anyone or group, who engages in such act to desist from it, as the Authority will not hesitate to bring the full weight of the law on such persons, no matter his or her standing in the society.

Such acts will not only be publicly condemned but the perpetrators will also be prosecuted by a court of competent jurisdiction.

In the same vein, the Authority will not condone nor tolerate any form of assault, physical or verbal harassment of any of our personnel, while carrying out their legitimate duty.

It is hereby reiterated for the umpteenth time that, anyone caught dumping of waste in drainages and littering the environment, shall be prosecuted according to the instrumentality of the laws of the State.

This unwholesome development should be condemned in totality, bearing in mind, the concerted efforts of Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in ensuring a sustainably clean environment, through various developmental programs and initiatives, the commitment of huge resources, towards making our darling state, Lagos, a smart city and Africa’s economic hub.

The Authority pledge it’s continued commitment to ensuring a sustainably clean environment, by discharging its responsibilities of effective and efficient waste management.
