Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has inspected the ongoing 18.7 kilometers 6-lane rigid pavement Eleko-Epe Highway construction with some cabinet members.
The road was first constructed 40 years ago from Eleko junction in Ibeju Lekki to Epe T-Junction.
Speaking, the Governor assured that the first phase of the project would be completed by the first quarter of 2022.
“With the pace of work, we are sure the contractor will complete this first phase by the first quarter of 2022 while the second phase of the project stretches from Eleko Junction to Abraham Adesanya Junction in Eti-Osa will commence later this year.
“We are currently assessing the project from the 3km lane already completed and we are happy with the progress of the project because the contractor works day and night.
“Residents along this corridor are also happy with the level of work done and are waiting on us to hand over this important infrastructure to them in earnest. The beauty of the work is that it has reduced the journey time, even as the road is still being constructed.
“We are confident that when completed, the road will offer the residents the chance to travel to and fro smoothly, safely and the journey time will reduce significantly,” the Governor said.
