When you think you have seen the worst of roads and infrastructure in Nigeria, you will be amazed at what your next discovery will look like.
The residents of Obinofia Ndi Uno and Ndi Agu Major Road in Enugu State have cried out to the Enugu State Government to help and save their homes, lands and their families before they get drowned and washed away by the river.
According to a statement sent to AutoReportNG, the youths of Obinofia Voice and Youth Assemblyare calling on well-meaning Nigerians, State Government and the Federal Government to help construct the roads which have become a death trap to all road users in the community.
According to the release, the Obinofia Ndi Uno and Ndi Agu major roads have been awarded to CGC for some years now and they are playing politics with the people’s life.
As it stands our people can’t access the road, all buildings within and close to the road are going down, this includes schools, business areas and churches.
Our age mothers find it difficult to go to market, schools are becoming difficult for our children to go because they have to climb three-story equivalent golly to assess the school premises.
The worst is about to befall us because another set of rain is around the corner and if care is not taken, the community will be washed away, there are no two ways about it than the state government to urgently come to our aid and help salvage this community.
As it stands today, the whole electrical installation is going down, the borehole, the Eke shop market is gone, our homes are going down gradually, what else do we have, no market, no school, no church, no electricity, no water… What are my people living for?
We appeal to the state governor, his excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Enugu State to please come to our aid. This is beyond us and that’s why we are seeking for help before its too late.
These are images from the community, these are the little we can take so far.
