Lagosians Finally Embrace Water Transportation
The Lagos State Government formally kicked off commercial waterways transportation last week where the governor formally launched the ferries and he went on tour. The launch which came as a palliative measure after the ban of Okadas and Keke Napep in the State.
Since the launch, water transportation in the State has witnessed significant patronage by Lagosians. At the various terminals across the state, passengers can be seen boarding the boats in great numbers. According to LagFerry, people have been patronising the ferry as an alternative means of transportation as it is fast, timely and affordable.
Part of what makes the journey smooth and effortless can be seen in these boats and they include free wifi, a USB charging port for phone owners and a sound system to entertain the passengers.
The ferries have different jetties and locations from where they can be board, for example, there is one at LASWA office at Falomo, one at Bariga, close to Oworo, one at Ikorodu among others.
The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) is the agency responsible for regulating, developing and managing all aspects of the waterways in Lagos State including the LagFerry and they are responsible for the running and security of all the ferries.
