Donald Trump Tours Ford’s Ventilator Plant (PHOTOS)
President Trump visited a Ford plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan, on Thursday that was converted to build ventilators, face shields and other medical equipment during the coronavirus pandemic.
Trump toured the Ford facility and met with top executives at the automaker. The medical devices, used to treat COVID-19 patients struggling with severe respiratory symptoms, have been in short supply in Michigan and other states.
“With your help, not a single American has been denied a ventilator, not a single one,” Trump told Ford factory workers.
” The outbreak of the pandemic of COVID-19 made Ford stop automobile production for the first time since World War II.”
Donald Trump has been called out for not wearing a mask as mandated by the state governor and the attorney general, however, during a tour of the Rawsonville Ford facility in Ypsilanti, Michigan, President Trump said he wore a mask while away from the public eye. Trump said that he was wearing a mask and showed off his mask while talking to the press. When asked why he was not wearing a mask while in front of cameras, he responded, “I didn’t want to give the press the pleasure of seeing it.
Earlier this week, Michigan’s attorney general wrote an open letter to the president urging him to wear a mask while visiting Ford Motor Company’s Rawsonville Components Plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan, a site that has a policy of requiring masks.
In a statement, the company said Executive Chairman Bill Ford had “encouraged” Trump to wear a mask when he arrived. “He wore a mask during a private viewing of three Ford GTs from over the years. The president later removed the mask for the remainder of the visit,” the statement said.

Ford made the White House aware of its policy ahead of Trump’s visit that “everyone wears PPE to prevent the spread of COVID-19” inside the plant, but it also made it clear that company officials wouldn’t challenge the president. “We have shared our policies and recommendations. The White House has its own safety and testing policies in place and will make its own determination,” the company said in a statement this week.
