Meet Ofodile Anulika, Designer Of Nigeria’s First Indigenous Military-Grade Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (PHOTOS)

There are many unsung heroes that are in the Nigerian Airforce that are doing wonders. We have heard the wonderful exploits of late Tolulope Arotile, there are many more that are ladies an are blazing the trail and raising the flag of Nigeria high.

One of the underground and silent achievers in the Nigerian Airforce is Lieutenant Nkemdilim Anulika Ofodile who is the brain behind Nigeria’s first indigenously produced military-grade Unmanned Aerial Vehicle.

This vehicle, also known as the Tsaigumi Tactical UAV, was produced in 2018 in collaboration with UAVision of Portugal, with the intention to be used for ISR operations in land and sea domains.

The UAV, which is capable of day and night operations, has an operational endurance in excess of 10 hours, a service ceiling of 15,000 feet and a mission radius of 100km. It has a maximum take-off weight of 95kg and its payload is an electro-optic/infra-red camera system.

Flight Lieutenant Nkemdilim Anulika Ofodile is the only female member of the NigerianAirforce (NAF)’s team of aerospace engineers who designed the Tsaigumi UAV, Nigeria’s 1st indigenous operational remotely piloted aircraft (drone).
Mrs Ofodile holds a PhD in Control Engineering.

She is well-known for also being the chief avionic specialist on the “Amebo UAV”, a drone built by NAF Engineers to train drone pilots.
