Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service successfully extinguished a tanker fire that occurred in the evening of Friday at Anthony, Gbagada Expressway, Lagos.

Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, Ag. Head of the Agency, while answering questions from journalists at the fire scene, stated that the response teams at Alausa and Bolade Fire Stations were dispatched to the scene after a distress call was received about the incident at 21:57hrs on Friday.

She explained that on arrival at the scene, it was discovered that a 33,000 litres Iveco truck laden with PMS, a containerised truck, a Flat Bird trailer carrying a crane and a towing vehicle were all involved in the accident which resulted in the fire incident.

“The firefighters of the State Fire and Rescue Service successfully extinguished the fire, while LASEMA and other first respondents at the fire scene were busy ensuring that the vehicles involved were towed off the road to allow free flow of traffic”, she said.

The Ag. Head of the Agency stated that preliminary investigation revealed that the Iveco truck lost control while trying to negotiate a sharp bend and rammed into the stationary vehicles, causing its contents to spill on the road and resulting in the fire outbreak.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Margaret also disclosed that earlier today that firemen from Lekki Phase 1 and Lekki Phase 2 Fire stations responded to a fire incident which gutted a two-storey building on the premises of Conoil Filling Station, Badore, Addo Road, Ajah, Eti-Osa Local Government, Lagos.
