Save for the timely intervention and arrival of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Lagos may likely be witnessing another fire outbreak in its metropolis. According to reports, the LASEMA unit effectively and efficiently deployed its Eagle Squad at Cappa Base, Oshodi to Festac Link-bridge where a tanker with an unknown registration number laden with 33,000 litres of diesel overturned while ascending the Festac Link-bridge at the early hours of today, Sunday, 8th November 2020.
The impact of this resulted in a serious spillage of the content as residents were seen scooping fuel from the fallen tanker which is very dangerous. The Agency’s Response Team and it’s Fire Unit, LASG Fire Service and Nigerian Police, Festac Division ensured the incident did not escalate to a disastrous incident as miscreants tried scooping the spilled content.
In an effort to quickly avert a fire disaster, the remaining content was transloaded to another tanker after which the Agency’s heavy-duty equipment, Forklift, recovered the tanker and placed it on a lay-by and the road was restored for vehicular activities at about 22:47 pm.
