The former Governor of Cross Rivers State, Donald Duke, has described his friend and Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, as a rare breed and a man who says what he means and means what he says.

Duke who on Monday commissioned the Okoro-Nu-Do flyover bridge said he is proud to be associated with Governor Wike who has been able to use the privilege given to him to positively impact the lives of his people.

It’s another season of harvest in Rivers State as the Wike administration commenced another phase of commissioning of projects.

The exercise kick-started on Monday with the Okoro-Nu-Du flyover bridge.

Stretching over 500 metres, the bridge will help end the traffic nightmare experienced especially in the Rumuokoro area of the state capital.

The contract for the multi-billion-naira project was awarded in October 2019 alongside two others: Rebisi and Rumuogba flyover bridges.

Sixteen months after, all the projects have been completed.

Governor Nyesom Wike said he is happy another promise made by his administration has been fulfilled.

The Governor warned against converting areas around the bridge to a market.

Duke also described Governor Wike as an honest man he is proud to be associated with.

The former Governor also used the opportunity to urge the people to value and maintain the bridge as their own.
