The hands of the law may have finally caught up with an alleged murder who killed a car owner in Port Harcourt.
According to online reports, an army official allegedly killed a car owner who gave him a ride from Eleme junction in Port Harcourt to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The incidence reportedly happened on Monday, 24th May 2021 along Ikot Abasi-Port Harcourt road.
In a report by Mbet Okpongete and contained in TheMail Newspaper, the unidentified car owner generously offered the army man a ride from Rivers State to Akwa Ibom thinking that he was helping a gallant officer who would have possibly defended him against dangers and hitches on his journey but met his untimely death.
According to the news, the dubious army official shot the car owner, killed him at Port Harcourt-Ikot Abasi Road, and escaped with the vehicle to hide somewhere in Akwa Ibom State.
Unknown to the army official, there was a tracking device in the car installed by the owner. Consequently, after some investigations and search, the car was tracked and he was picked up by some security men on Tuesday morning in one hotel in Ukanafun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
An eyewitness (Mbet Okpongete) recounted that the military hierarchy had picked him up at the Akwa Ibom State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo for more investigations after which he would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
