In a swift response to our earlier story by the FAAN operatives banning UBER, Bolt and other private taxis from the Lagos Airport, the FAAN management has come out to disclaim the billboard stating they are not responsible for the signage.
In a statement obtained by AutoReportNG, Henrietta Yakubu, FAAN general manager, public affairs, refuted the allegation saying FAAN is not responsible for the billboard with the restriction notice.
“A group of persons did that without recourse to FAAN management. Please disregard. Members of the public are free to be dropped at our airports by whatever means of transportation,” she said.
It will be recalled that FAAN and other ride-sharing cabs have been at loggerheads at various Nigerian airports, in Abuja for example, UBER, Bolt and others are not allowed to pick or drop passengers at the airport except they use the taxis at the airport premises whose charges are killing.
Even though FAAN denied the billboard, one wonders if a billboard of such magnitude can be erected in front of an international airport without the knowledge of FAAN, can FAAN truthfully claimed not to be aware of this directive in the first place or they are only trying to come out clean.
We will continue to keep watch and observe as the event unfolds.
