After 11year break due to insecurity in the country, the 2020 Argungu Motor Rally finally took place in the city of Abuja and span across 5 states.
The event which was aimed at showcasing the feats recorded by the nation’s auto policy for the past years and by showcasing Made in Nigeria and assembled cars was organised by the National Automotive Design and Development Council – NADDC.
The Argungu Motor Rally, which dates back to 1973, is returning after an 11-year hiatus.
Some of the auto firms that participated in the motor rally showcasing various brands of Nigerian assembled automobiles are Peugeot, Nissan, GAC, Honda, Hyundai, JAC, Changan, Yutong, JMC and Dongfeng.
The event was held at Eagle Square Abuja, venue of the flag-off event. The event has in attendance the presence of pilot drivers and their co-pilots as well as participating cars, SUVs, Pick-up vans, medium-size buses and high capacity buses beautifully branded in the brilliant colours and logos of Argungu Festival.
Immediately the vehicles were flagged-off, drivers of the participating vehicles zoomed off on a three-day roadshow through Nasarawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Sokoto and Kebbi to demonstrate their ruggedness, agility, adaptability to various terrains, safety and comfortability.
This year’s Argungu Motor Rally is hosted by Kebbi State Government in collaboration with National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) with the active involvement of all local assembly plants in Nigeria with the aim of showcasing vehicles locally made in the country and their capacity to cope with the peculiar terrains in the country.
