Ogun State Government Releases Guidelines On Transportation For Eased Lockdown

The governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has issued directives on the conduct of businesses, markets and transportation during the lockdown relaxation windows.

According to the state government, the directive is for all businesses, schools, worship centres and all public places in the state.

The directive which was printed on a flyer gave directives on public transport, markets and public places.

On transportation, the directive stated that…

1. Total Ban on interstate travels, intrastate transport is allowed
2. Compulsory face mask for drivers and passengers
3. Taxi-cabs: Maximum of 3 passengers
4. 18-seaters buses: Maximum of 7 passengers
5. Tricycles: Maximum of 2 passengers
6. Motorcycles (okada): Maximum of 1 passenger
7. There will be no interstate travels whatsoever for persons living in Ogun State and working in other states, including Lagos
8. Commercial vehicle operators will be held responsible for passenger without a face mask.

Public Places
– Wearing of face mask
– Wash and sanitize your hands
– Social distance of two (2) meters
– Restaurants may open on the approved days for take-out meals only
– Business premises operators will be held responsible for clients and customers without a face mask.

As at 7th May, the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ogun State has risen to100 with 2 recorded deaths.

It will be recalled that Ogun State Government commenced the enforcement of the compulsory wearing of face masks in public on May 1st as a measure to curtail the spread in the state.

According to the Government, violators will spend 14 days in any of the State’s Isolation Centers and made to perform community service.

The federal government recently eased the 5 weeks lockdown it imposed on Lagos, Abuja and Ogun States.
