LASEMA agency over the weekend received a distress call concerning a flood incident at Obafatola Community, Ebute IGBOGBO Road, Ikorodu, on Sunday, 28th June 2020, and activated its Response Team, Lion Squad, to the scene of the incident.
Upon the arrival of the LRT at the incident scene in the company of the CDA Officials, it was discovered that most parts of the community were flooded as the result of the heavy downpour. The Agency’s Officials carried out Post Disaster Assessment and observed that;
1. 6 streets with more than twenty houses were affected by the heavy rainfall/flood.
2. There are a lot of barriers blocking the drainage channels in the affected areas which is the major cause of the flood.
No loss of live nor injury recorded but properties worth millions were destroyed.
FLOOD INCIDENT AT RAMAN SHODERU STREET POWERLINE OFF IKORODU-SAGAMU ROAD IKORODU
The Agency’s Lion Squad at Agbowa also responded to another flooding incident at Raman Shoderu Street, Powerline, off Ikorodu-Sagamu Road, Ikorodu.
Upon the arrival of the LRT at the incident scene, it was discovered that the neighbourhood was flooded as the result of the heavy downpour. The Agency’s officials carried out Post Disaster Assessment and observed that;
1. Four (4) streets with more than fifteen houses were affected by the heavy rainfall/flood.
2. There are a lot of barriers blocking the drainage channels in the affected areas which is the major cause of the flood.
3. The dept of the road drainage needs to be widened, if possible in two-layer to be able to contain the volume of the water in the neighbourhood
No loss of live nor injury recorded but properties worth millions were destroyed.
The DG/CEO LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu warns residents to desist from disposing refuse into drainages/canals as the aftermath is on the citizens.
