Ever since the closure of the third mainland bridge in Lagos and after the inspection of the minister of works and housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, little or nothing has been heard on the bridge.
It will be recalled that the federal government shut down the bridge for maintenance work from July 24 for a period of 6 months. This follows reports of some worn-out joints of the bridge which has raised some serious safety concerns for the users of the bridge.
The closure of the 11.8km bridge, the busiest in the State, was inevitable, following physical deterioration observed on the structure after an integrity test conducted by the Federal Government.
Base on the latest images available to AutoReportNG, the workers are working on the joints of the bridge between different locations. The men are also removing asphalt in preparation for hydro demolition of expansion joints. 14 expansion joints which would first be worked on.
