The Honourable Minister for Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola visited Ogun State on an inspection of the 127km Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The State Governor Price Dapo Abiodun had earlier called on the Federal Government to give special status to roads in Ogun State.
He said the ongoing project comes with inevitable inconveniences, but the state government have set up a task force of the Police and Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) towards ensuring light traffic and speedy project delivery.
According to him, Ogun State Government is reconstructing the alternative Ijebu Ode-Epe Road, as the State work on getting the Federal Lagos-Sango-Abeokuta and Atan-Lusada-Agbara roads (hosting Agbara Industrial Estate) ceded to Ogun, especially as it is Nigeria’s largest industrial hub.
Governor Abiodun stated that the state government have also set up two fire stations in Isheri and Mowe for quick-fire response, and the state will site a trailer park in Sagamu as an alternative to the Ogere axis.
“This inspection by the Hon. Minister further reassures us that the FG remains committed, just like the Ogun State Government, to commerce and security”, he said.
