The governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has received a 100 all-female army corps deployed to combat insecurity in the state.
Hadiza Balarabe, the deputy governor, joined el-Rufai in welcoming the troops to the state.
According to a tweet from the Kaduna state government handle, the all-female corps were deployed to complement security patrols on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.
“KADUNA UPDATE: Malam Nasir @elrufai and @DrHadiza are welcoming a detachment of the Nigerian Army Women Corps that has been deployed to complement security patrols on the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway,” the tweet reads.
The Governor and the Deputy Governor have expressed gratitude to the military for deploying the troops and assured them of the continued support of the Kaduna State Government as they work for security in the state.
The Abuja-Kaduna expressway can be tagged as the most unsafe highway in the country. Lately, gunmen kidnap and sometimes kill travellers while security operatives look helpless.
