Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), yesterday said the Second Niger Bridge is 80 per cent completed.
He spoke after inspecting the project from the Obosi end to its Ogbaru terminus.
He said there was a lot of progress, adding that the last time he visited the site, the majority of work was at the Onitsha bound lane.
He said by February 2022, the bridge would be commissioned.
According to him, the bridge would be completed by the approved revised Federal Government budget.
He said: ”I’m impressed by the work done. By February the bridge will be linked from Asaba to the Onitsha end, and sometime next year the entire project would be commissioned.”

Federal Controller Works in the state, Adeyemo Ajani, said the bridge had reached 80 per cent completion.
He noted that the 11.9 Km Owerri inter-change road linking the bridge from Onitsha end to Asaba in Delta State was almost ready.
Our correspondent gathered that the Federal Government had so far released N116.72 billion for the project valued at N414 billion.
President Muhammadu Buhari awarded the contract at the initial cost of N206 billion.
