The Lagos State Government has urged truck drivers to beware of height restriction barriers, installed at Stadium, Ojuelegba, and Dorman Long Bridges to prevent their usage by articulated vehicles.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Transportation, Abdul Hafeez Toriola, in a statement issued yesterday, stated that the barriers were mounted following a series of stakeholders’ meetings held to forestall incessant articulated vehicle accidents which has claimed lives and property.
He said signages have been mounted to notify truck drivers ahead of the height restriction barriers, but unfortunately, many of these signages have been damaged by careless drivers who run into them.
He said the government has therefore resolved to impose sanctions on drivers who violate the rules by stationing enforcement gangs at these locations to oversee compliance.
The Lagos State Government is urging truck drivers to exercise patience when driving in these areas, as the installation of truck barriers aims to prevent accidents.
