Ilasamaja Crash: 2 Dead, 6 Rescued Alive As LASEMA Clears The Road (Photos)
In yet another timely intervention, the LASEMA Response Team in an operation yesterday rescued six people involved in a road crash at Ilasamaja inward Mile 2.
Though two people, male and female adults died in the avoidable accident, three other passengers, including the bus driver, were rescued with injuries, given medical attention before being transferred to Isolo General Hospital for further treatment, while three others escaped unhurt.
The accident which occurred due to collision of a truck with registration number SGM 715 XA loaded with a 20ft container when it rammed into a commercial bus stationed at Ilasamaja bus stop under the bridge while it was discharging some of its passengers.
According to information generated by LRT (Eagle Squad) on arrival at the scene of the incident, insistence on the right of way by the driver of the accident truck laden with a 20Feet container, with another truck, led to the unfortunate incident, where the said truck rammed into the commercial bus at Ilasa under bridge discharging passengers.
The truck was reported to have fallen on the bus with registration number APP 127 XW on impact, leaving a male and female adults dead at the incident scene immediately the accident occurred, while three others, the bus driver inclusive were rescued injured and subsequently taken to Isolo General Hospital by Men of Nigerian Police from Ilasa Police Division.
Situation Report on the Road Traffic Accident emanating from the office of the DG/CEO LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, has it that, “Upon arrival at the above-mentioned scene, it was revealed that a truck with registration number SGM 715 XA loaded with a 20ft container collided into a commercial bus stationed at Ilasa under the bridge which was discharging some of its passengers.
“The impact of the fallen truck led to the immediate death of two passengers, one male and one female. Three other passengers including the bus driver were rescued with injuries and have been transferred to Isolo General Hospital by LASEMA’s Responders, while another three passengers escaped unhurt.
“The Fallen Truck, its Container and the affected bus were recovered with the Agency’s Forklift and Super Metro, placed on a layby and subsequently handed over to the Nigerian Police, Ilasa Division.
SEHMU recovered remains of the fatalities.
LASTMA and The Nigerian Police were responders controlling the resultant traffic while the operation lasted. The road was restored to normalcy.
