Ondo State is a state in the western part of the country. The state which was created on February 3, 1976, from the former Western State. It originally included the present Ekiti State, which was split off in 1996. Akure is the state capital. Each Nigerian state has several ministerial offices representing the federal government. Ondo State. Ondo state has borders with Ekiti State to the north, Kogi State to the northeast, Edo State to the east, Delta State to the southeast, Ogun State to the southwest, and Osun State to the northwest and the Atlantic Ocean to the south.

Each state has its unique state code plate number and each of these codes has what they stand for. The first three letters on every number plate indicate the Local Government Area of registration of the vehicle. This is then followed by three digits and two letters.

Ondo State has eighteen (18) local government areas, the major ones being Akoko, Akure, Okitipupa, Ondo, Ilaje and Owo. The majority of the state’s citizens live in urban centers.

LEL – Ile Oluji Local Government (Ile Oluji)

NND – Ondo West Local Government (Ondo)

BDR – Ondo East Local Government (Bolorunduro)

WEN – Idanre Local Government (Owena)

SUA – Akoko South East Local Government (Isua)

REE – Odigbo Local Government (Ore)

GBA – Igbokoda Local Government

KTP – Okitipupa Local Government

ANG – Akoko North West Local Government (Oke Agbe)

FFN – Ose Local Government (Ifon)

KAA – Akoko North East Local Government (Ikare)

Nigerian vehicle registration plates in current use were introduced in 1992 and revised in 2011. Nigeria and Liberia are the only two African countries that use the North American standard 6 × 12 inches (152 × 300 mm), with Egypt using an approximately similar size of 170 x 350 mm. The international code for Nigeria is “WAN” (West Africa Nigeria).

The license plates are generally white and the number itself is imprinted in blue. In the upper left-hand corner, they carry the Flag of Nigeria or the national coat of arms. The state name and slogan is displayed at the top centre of the plate, and the “Federal Republic of Nigeria” is written at the bottom.

The unique plate combination itself is in the format ABC-123DE. The first three letters indicate the Local Government Area in which the vehicle was registered, which are followed by three digits and two letters. The background consists of an outline of a map of Nigeria. Before 2011, the three letters indicating the Local Government Area were at the end, in the format AB123-CDE
