PHOTOS: Gov Wike Blocks Boundary Linking Rivers And Abia State
Gov Wike of River State has erected a gate at the boundary linking Rivers and Abia State. This is to prevent movement of vehicles during the lockdown.
Gov Wike of Rivers State really meant business when he said the state will be in total lockdown. Unlike other state governors who issue a directive without following up, Gov. Nyesom Wike is following words with action. It will be recalled that he personally supervised the roads where he arrested people who violated the lockdown order by putting them in the isolation centre.
Over the weekend, the state governor erected a gate between the boundary of Rivers and Abia borders to prevent drivers coming in and going out. The gates were stationed at Choba bridge and another gate was erected at the boundary of Igwuruta and Eneka in Rivers State.

It will be recalled that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Monday, 4th May, announced a 24-hour dusk-to-dawn curfew and a total lockdown of the entire Port Harcourt metropolis, the state capital and Nigeria’s oil hub.
The metropolis covers about five local government areas (Port Harcourt municipal council, Obi/Akpor, Ikwerre, Oyigbo and Eleme LGAs).
A few days back, he directed security operatives to transfer some persons to isolation centres in the state. They were found on the streets when they were not on essential duty.
He also ordered the seizure of some trucks which defied the lockdown directive by conveying livestock into the state.
The governor asked that the trucks and the cattle seized be auctioned.
